Rambutan Sherbet

Confused over the name Rambutan, It is one of the tropical fruit available in the regions of Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka n Philipines. It is a hairy litttle red fruit. The outer skin is Red with lots of hair n it has a fleshy fruit with seed inside. The fruit resembles a lychee n tastes almost like a Palm fruit. Being in UAE you get to have fruits from around the world all the time. Be it rambutan, durian or mangostein.. next time you see this hairy fruit, do try you will surely love the sweet taste

For more info on this fruit look here I love having Rambutan, all by itself but this time I wanted to make something different. Made this simple Sherbet just the way my Aunt prepares sherbet with Palm Fruit. This sherbet tastes best when served chilled. very easy to prepare too. just needs milk, sugar n Rambutan. If you want a more sinful sherbet add in Condensed milk or of you want a low calorie version use skimmed milk n try using honey( havent tested how the taste would be)

I love rambutans and this drink looks fantastic!

Rambut in Malay means Hair...so that's why the name is such maybe. Hehehe...;)

We love rambutans too, but due to lack of stock here...I'd just get some canned ones. :(
