Coconut chutney


Coconut chutney the most common accompaniment to almost all tiffin and snack varieties. There are many variations in making this chutney. This is an easy and tasty recipe to make. Try out and you will always yearn
for this chutney only.

You need
Grated coconut                   1 cup
Fried gram                          1/4 cup
Green chilli                          1-2
Ginger                                 1" piece
Small onion                          2
Saondlt to taste

To Temper
Oil                                  1 1/2 tbsp
Mustard seed                  1/2 tsp
Urad dhal                        1/4 tsp
Curry leaves                     few

Preparation
Grind together coconut, fried gram, chilli, onion, ginger and salt with a little water to a thick paste.
You can add water to get the right type of consistency you want.
If you are serving with Idly or Dosai the chutney can be little thick or If you are serving with Vadai , Bonda or Bajji the consistency can be thin.
Temper the chutney. Heat the oil add the mustard seeds. Allow it to splutter, add the urad dhal Just as it starts to change color add the curry leaves.    
Add to the chutney and serve.
